Breast Cancer Early Detection Program
"A Breast Cancer Screening Program for
California Women"
The Breast Cancer Early Detection Program (BCEDP) is
a program sponsored by the state of California. It pays for eligible, low-income
women to have breast examinations and other tests that find breast cancer. The goal
is to find breast cancer early when it is more treatable.
GET THE FACTS!
- ANY woman can get breast cancer.
- Most women who get breast cancer do NOT have a family history of breast cancer.
- It is important that you get screened each and every year.
- Early detection with examinations and mammograms can save your life!
For women who are eligible, these breast cancer screening services are free
of charge every year!
SERVICES PROVIDED
Clinical Breast Examination (CBE)
This program will pay for a clinical breast examination for all program eligible
women age 40 and over.
Mammogram
The program will pay for a mammogram for all women age 40 and over.
Diagnostic Procedures
This program will pay for follow-up procedures needed to find out if a woman does

You will be asked questions about your age, income, and health

and a list of doctors or clinics in your area. Use this list to call
and make an appointment for a "clinical breast exam."
GO TO YOUR APPOINTMENT. Take your BCEDP

back.
Take this application with you to every BCEDP
appointment.
Keep all your appointments for exams or tests
recommended by the doctor until you know you do not have breast
